Here are some examples of how teachers have designed a list of consequences with each step being more punitive than the last (Don't forget to catch kids being good!)
 
 
 

Mrs. Cuddahee's List of Interventions (to be administered in order if children continue to misbehave)

(Before step one: Non-verbal signal to cease misbehavior)
1. Verbal reminder to show the correct behavior
2. Loss of 5 minutes of recess (or 5 minutes detention after school)
3. Loss of 10 minutes of recess (or 10 minutes detention after school)
4. Loss of 20 minutes of recess (or 20 minutes detention after school)
5. Loss of all recess and call home to parents after school
6. Sent to office for administrative discipline
 

Mr. Overton's List of Consequences (middle/high school)

(Before step one: Non-verbal signal to cease misbehavior)
1. Written reminder to show the correct behavior (placed on student's desk)
2. Loss of 20 seconds from hallway passing (the 5 minutes kids have to travel to the next class)
3. Loss of 1 minute from hallway passing
4. Loss of 2 minutes from hallway passing
5. Detention
6. Sent to the office for administrative discipline
 

Miss Harootunian's List of Consequences (when you only have one thing to use as punishment like lunch in the classroom instead of cafeteria, sending student to office, etc.)

(Before step one: Non-verbal signal to cease misbehavior)
1. Verbal reminder to show correct behavior
2. One finger held up as warning
3. Two fingers held up as warning
4. Student loses privilege of eating lunch with friends in the cafeteria (or sent to office)
